This is the software loaded on the Handheld device. It enables the display of the data associated with the individual concerned to be displayed when the card is presented.

The software stores the card number and time of read – data that can be transferred via SMIHost to the core system.

Deployment Modes
There are three modes in which the products can be deployed

1. Data on Handheld
The data/images to be utilised are transferred by SMIHost onto the Handheld device.
When a card is presented then the details relevant to that individual are displayed.

2. Data on Card
The data/images are written by SMIHost onto the chip of a 13.56 Mhz “Smart Card”.
When the card is presented the information is read from the chip and displayed on the Handheld device.

3. Wireless
When a card is presented the card number is transmitted back to the database and the relevant data/image transmitted to the hand held and displayed.

The products support both WiFi and GPRS communication methods.

Other relevant applications

Simple Card Verification
In situations where all that is required is a card validity check then SMIHost simply uploads a list of valid card numbers to the Handheld.

When a card is presented then the card number is checked against this list.

Please note this function may also be utilised in conjunction with data/ image display.



In or Out Transactions
SMIMobile may be supplied to allow for ‘In’ and ‘Out’ reads to be recorded separately – for use in attendance type systems.
